I don't know why anyone would need more convincing that Project Natal was for the sexy in crowd after seeing Nick "Sexy In Crowd" Chester rock it at the Tokyo Game Show, but I suppose that aside from a few awkwardly twisted Avatars and a game where people hit balls at blocks we haven't really seen that much of Microsoft's "future of gaming and everything ever." Not to fear, more shall come -- just not directly for the public.
Microsoft has confirmed that it will reveal more information on Natal to developers (and thus through leaks and "accidental" quotes to the general public) come February of 2010 at their Gamefest conferences that are held in the US, UK and Japan. The American conference will feature two separate tracks on the machine. One will focus on designing games for the peripheral while the other will focus on the technical aspects of it. Microsoft is promising developers that they will be shown "never-before seen details of game development using Project Natal."
If most devs are just getting this information in February of next year, then it's going to be a good long time before we see Natal in the hands of the public as was probably obvious from the quick rebuffing of last weeks rumored November release date. We're guessing that they've already got some third party devs in the loop unless Microsoft is planning to launch without any quality third party support at all.
"I hate Natal. I've never played it and there's a very decent amount of praise for it from the video game community but I'm cynical and hate things that don't look appealing without ever actuall p..."...
Remember when your parents told you to go play outside instead of playing videogames all day long? Well today's TeeFury shirt takes that saying and gives it a whole new spin. Classic Nintendo cartridges are playing in the park enjoying the fresh air blowing into their contacts. There's even a NES controller that's acting like a dog.
Like all things on TeeFury, you only have 24 hours to purchase this shirt before IT'S GONE FOREVER! Grab one over on the site for just $9.
Seven minutes and sixteen seconds is entirely too long for a video on the Internet. Especially when said video is about a game called City Bus Simulator 2010. Even if this was the top of the line in terms of bus driving simulation, which it's painfully not, it'd still be too dull for a seven-minute clip.
Knowing this, I've gathered specific key moments you won't want to miss. You can catch these at the following time marks: 0:32, 2:00, 2:30, 4:52, and 5:14. I'm probably forgetting something, but there's no way I'm spending any more time watching this damn video. You can't make me.
HAWP takes on Uncharted 2, Holmes reviewed Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Nick checked out ModNation Racers, Wal-Mart has some good Black Friday deals, a new Super Street Fighter IV fighter will be revealed soon and more happened on 11/20/09.
Spike released a new teaser today for some mysterious game by 2K. No details were released but we were promised the full reveal during the VGAs on December 12.
Unfortunately for Spike, it looks like this trailer was already released. Four months ago in fact. 1Up caught the original video which reveals this new game to be Spec Ops. For those of you that don't remember, Specs Ops was a war game for the original PlayStation, PC and Dreamcast. It was also complete crap.
The trailer does look interesting, but the name Spec Ops just brings up bad memories. How about you? Does this look good to any of you?
I have to indulge in a little narcissism right: not only did I get farther along in the second dungeon of Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks than any other journalist who previewed the game, I had all of Nintendo congratulate me on the achievement. I then proceeded to destroy them in the freshly announced multiplayer mode (except one round where I lost horribly, but we don't talk about that.)
All in all, I came away as the best Zelda player in the universe, proving once and for all a college education is really going to change your life.
While I'm sure some of you are utterly fascinated with this information, I bet even more of you are interested in Spirit Tracks itself. After all, it is a freaking Zelda game, and it is coming out in less than three weeks. Any other year, and we'd all be crapping ourselves to get a hold of this game. After spending sometime with this little choo-choo that could, I think there's going to be a whole lot to look forward with this game. Hit the jump to see our latest preview on Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.
In recent years, Capcom has made some great progress in terms of becoming invested in PC gaming. The developer's last couple of major releases have seen solid ports, and in many cases, their exclusive goodies make these the versions you'd want to get above all else.
I'm not saying the company is perfect -- simultaneous PC and console releases, please? -- but it's certainly a major step up from the days of Resident Evil 4 on PC. Gross. That's why the recent news of Resident Evil 5 DLC for consoles felt off.
Not once did Capcom reference the PC version of RE5 in its announcement. Speaking to G4, a Capcom rep briefly stated there are "no plans for PC at this point," in reference to the Gold Edition content.
Perhaps they're waiting to see how the add-ons perform on consoles first, or they just don't have the resources to target all platforms at once. Or could it be a factor of sales not meeting expectations? I'm sure we'll know the reason before too long.
"Well considering you can plug in a wired 360 controller or any gamepad of your choice to play it like the console version only with improved mercenaries and (if your computer can handle it) much ..."...
In the rush of recent releases, I had almost forgotten about my beloved Borderlands and its premier downloadable content pack, "The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned." From what I can tell, it'll be an awful lot like Zombi 2, minus the zombie-on-shark action and nudity. Boo!
But who knows, maybe they've hidden the old insert-glass-shard-into-eye scene as an easter egg?
Gearbox has devised a dedicated site for the add-on, complete with all the back-story you'll ever need, some new screenshots, and a tease for an upcoming trailer. I'll bet you anything the video goes live on Monday, just in the nick of time.
Worst case scenario, you ought to go visit the site for the sinister tune that plays. It's kinda catchy.
In this episode of "Adventures in Batsh*t Insane PC Gamer Trickery," we get to see how a conversion of Left 4 Dead to the Left 4 Dead 2 standard is done. Someone was crazy enough to bring the first game's campaigns into the sequel, and it's paid off. Mostly.
You see, there is known breakage. The final moments during the finales tend to result in a crash, for instance. But it's progress, for sure. Obviously the next step would be to get the original survivors into the South in a playable state.
If you aren't scared away by warning messages, and you own both games legit, then proceed to the instructions on how to accomplish this black magic over at Left 4 Dead Mods.
"I'm quite sure that the games will be "merged" later on. But you'll need to own both, of course and you won't be able to play with L4D-only owners. It all makes sense in the end, right?"...
Steel Battalion? One of the best games to ever hit the original Xbox. It's a game where you control a giant mech using two joysticks, three foot pedals and a 40 button controller that came with every game. Steel Battalion was great, but the huge price tag prevented a lot of people from experiencing it.
The controller doesn't have any use outside of Steel Battalion, but Japanese VJ, Bonsajo, modded his into something useful. His controller mod allows him to fade, scratch, change color and do all sorts of other things to images appearing on the screen that I don't really fully understand why but STEEL BATTALION!
The fact that Killzone 2 is not up for GOTY is nothing short of a travesty. While I just wept quietly to myself in outrage, other more proactive gamers took to the internet to rage about it.

Media Molecule has heard your cries, and have delivered -- Sonic the Hedgehog costumes are coming to LittleBigPlanet in December.
That's the good news. Bad news, it's based on Sonic Unleashed, which is probably not how you'd like to remember Sonic's speedy little hero. Regardless, that's the only way you'll get costumes for Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Dr. Robotnik, and -- gasp -- Sonic the Werehog.

When it comes to RPGs, enemies mostly come in four varieties: humans, flora, fauna, and monsters. Typically you'll see the first and the fourth as major foes, and the second and third as the fodder you mash while building money and experience. When you defeat foes such as the Turks in Final Fantasy VII, evil is punished, no big deal. Toppling a behemoth isn't much of a moral issue either because you know he'd tear you a new materia hole if given the chance.
But what about when you're running around outside Midgar, trampling into the wilds and intentionally stirring up fights? Sure, it appears as innocent grinding, stomping around and making noise to scare out the animals, but let me tell you what you're grinding there -- animal guts.
""Ever wonder why people in towns are so eager to give you information, and never are bothered that you just barge into their homes? Because they're scared as hell!"
That was gold, I'm using that..."...
When I first heard that Capcom's next Resident Evil game was going to be a sequel to the Wii-exclusive Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, I was pretty disappointed. Umbrella Chronicles actually turned out to be great -- much better than I thought it would be -- but still, nothing about the game demanded a sequel. However, that's what we've got, like it or not, so instead of b*tching about what The Darkside Chronicles isn't (namely, a new RE4: Wii Edition-style masterpiece), let's focus on what the game is: an on-rails shooter specifically designed for the home console market.
Will The Darkside Chronicles live up to the expectations of Resident Evil fans? More importantly, does it work to deliver enough punch to satisfy the home console gamer despite the fact that the action is on rails?
